FOUNTAIN VALLEY : City to Study Rules for Adult Businesses

Share

Where to allow adult businesses to operate will be the topic for a City Council study session Tuesday.

The city has a moratorium on the establishment of adult businesses. The ban, however, expires in February. Cities cannot prohibit adult entertainment businesses but can regulate where they are.

Planning services manager Andrew Perea said the ban will have been in effect for two years in February and cannot be extended. The council’s job, he said, is to draw up an ordinance that regulates the businesses.

At Tuesday’s session, Perea will present eight location alternatives within industrial and commercial areas. The session with the Planning Commission will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 10200 Slater Ave., followed by the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.

A public hearing is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 27 on the proposed ordinance.
