Share

Wilma Josephine Robinson of Oxnard, a longtime active member of Women of the Moose, has died after a long illness. She was 74.

A resident of Oxnard since 1975, Mrs. Robinson was born in Dodge City, Kan. in 1920. She moved to Long Beach with her family in 1932, after her father landed a job as an oil field worker with Texaco, and graduated from Long Beach Jordan High School in 1936.

Mrs. Robinson enrolled in cosmetology school but never pursued the career. She married William Jenkins, a Navy officer, in 1939 and gave birth to twin sons, Donald and Ronald, in 1940.

She divorced Jenkins in 1945 and remarried twice, the second time to Bill Robinson in 1975. They moved to Oxnard shortly afterward. Bill Robinson died in 1980.

Mrs. Robinson worked at several odd jobs through the years, including at a liquor store and in a wholesale supply store, but spent most of her time as a homemaker, according to Ronald Jenkins.

She devoted much of her time to the Women of the Moose, Lodge #561. Relatives ask that memorial donations be made to the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #561, in lieu of flowers.

Robinson is survived by her two sons and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Guardian Memorial Funeral Directors and Crematory in Oxnard.
