About 500 people are expected to attend the fourth annual Ventura County Regional Conference for Women, set to take place Saturday in Ventura, officials said.

The conference will feature a keynote address about the behind-the-scenes power of first ladies in the White House by journalist Ann McFeatters, organizer Marilyn Woods said.

McFeatters has covered the White House for Scripps Howard News Service since 1986, Woods said. She will also do some early handicapping of the 1996 presidential election, Woods said.

Other speakers during the daylong conference include Lillian Zacky, chief executive officer of poultry giant Zacky Farms, and Ashley Phillips, executive director of the WomanCare Clinic in San Diego.

More than 65 exhibits will feature products, services and demonstrations for women, Woods said. Registration for the seminar begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Ventura, she said.

The cost is $59 per person, Woods said. For more information, call 644-9555.
