COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —
Three women ferry passengers held hostage in Sri Lanka by Tamil Tiger rebels have since given birth, swelling the hostage tally to 147, military sources said Sunday.
The ferry passengers are being held near Mullaittivu in northeast Sri Lanka, near where the wooden-hulled Iris Moana lies at anchor. It is believed that eight passengers and five crew members are still being held on board.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, fighting for a homeland in the north and east, hijacked the ferry last Monday.
