Renault Unveils Megane Line in Spain: The French car maker launched the first two models of what will be five in a lavish event in Barcelona. Renault is seeking to restore its presence in the market for mid-sized cars, which accounted for just over a third of the 11.9 million cars sold in Europe last year. The Megane hatchback and two-door coupe go on sale in France in November and in most of the rest of Europe by March; the minivan, convertible and sedan are to be introduced within two years. Renault has traditionally concentrated on building small cars, but profit margins on those are slim. Renault spent 52 months developing the new line and invested $2.7 billion in plants.
