Ford, Chrysler Get Go Ahead to Build Vietnam Plants: The Vietnam government has approved the auto maker’s proposal to build a small assembly plant near Hanoi, Ford Motor Co. Chairman Alex Trotman said. Trotman emphasized the growth potential in the Asian automotive markets in making the announcement that Ford’s application had been approved for the factory. The chairman said the plant would eventually produce between 25,000 and 50,000 vehicles a year. Separately, Chrysler Corp. announced that it too received approval to build a plant to assemble American made Dodge Dakota pickup trucks in Vietnam.
