Homosexuality: God’s Creation

Share

* Re: “Spiritual Sanctuary,” (Aug. 29). First, can we please get it straight that there is no such thing as “the homosexual lifestyle?” Lesbians and gays do not live a “chosen” lifestyle; we live lives, pure and simple. The word “lifestyle” connotes cruising around in yachts and social status. Do heterosexuals maintain a common, chosen lifestyle?

Second, Christianity is the most perplexing thing to me, and others I suppose. The way I see it, if one believes, as the Bible says (another interesting phrase since it changes depending on who is using it and for what purpose), that, in the Old Testament, God created everything on earth and in heaven, then God created homosexuality. If God created it, then how can it be wrong or sinful?

Lastly, if God sent his son, Jesus Christ, on whose life and teachings Christianity is supposed to be based, then why aren’t all God’s creatures treating one another with the basis for the New Testament, namely, “Love one another, even as I have loved you”? After all, look who Jesus hung around with, and he found no basis for rejecting a single soul. In fact he invited us all to come live in the kingdom, “for the rooms in my Father’s house are many.” I think the message of Christ is one of love and the respect and celebration of diversity. In any case, it would surely make the world a better place for all.

Actually, I have made the fool’s mistake: using logic in discussing religion.
