Alexander & Alexander to Buy Most of Jardine’s U.S. Operations: New York-based Alexander & Alexander Services Inc., an insurance firm, said it will acquire most of the U.S. retail insurance brokerage and consulting business of British Jardine Insurance Brokers Inc. for $54 million in cash. The company said it is acquiring Jardine’s operations in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Stockton, Kansas City-Topeka, Kan., Houston, Phoenix, Chicago and Detroit. Jardine’s New York-based marine business and other businesses in Latham, N.Y., are not part of the transaction, which is expected to be completed in October.
