Man, 2 Boys Held in Shooting of Boy, 17

A 21-year-old Glendale man and two 16-year-old boys will be arraigned today on murder charges in connection with the killing of a 17-year-old Glendale boy, police said Monday.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was found shot in the head in the hallway of an apartment building in the 300 block of Cypress Street about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, after residents reported gunshots. He was pronounced dead at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, police said.

Police said that the killing is believed to be gang-related, but no details about the crime have been made public.

Police arrested Jaime Escobedo and two teen-agers several blocks from the crime scene 45 minutes after the killing was reported, but police would not say how the suspects were linked to the crime.

The suspects were to be arraigned today on murder charges. Escobedo, who has been held at the Glendale city jail without bail, was to be arraigned in a Glendale courtroom while the juvenile suspects, who have been in custody at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey, were to be arraigned in a Pasadena court, police said.
