Obituaries : * Richard Pidduck Jr.; Family Settled Oxnard Plain

Richard William Pidduck Jr., a descendant of pioneers who settled the Oxnard Plain in the 1880s, has died after a long illness. He was 76.

Pidduck was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Oxnard. He graduated from Oxnard High School and attended the University of California at Davis. During World War II, he was a flight instructor and later became a B-29 flight commander. He returned to ranching after the war and later married Helen Kimball Pinkerton of Ventura.

Pidduck was a 4-H leader, an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Oxnard, and a director of the Ocean View Water District.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; his sons, Kurt Pidduck of Camarillo and Richard Pidduck of Santa Paula; his daughters, Jane Pidduck of Camarillo and Carolyn Pidduck of Ventura; brother Arthur Pidduck of Westlake; sister Genevieve Sager of Ventura; and eight grandchildren: Krista, Brian and Kevin Pidduck; William, Nathaniel and Megan Pidduck; and Caroline and Scott Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Farm Implement Building Fund of the Ventura County Museum of History and Art or to a charity. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
