34 Die in Malaysia Crash

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A Malaysian Airlines plane crashed while landing Friday, plowed through a shantytown near the runway and exploded, killing at least 34 of the 53 people aboard.
No one died in the shantytown, but at least 10 people who lived there were hospitalized, police said.
The crash occurred in Tawau on the island of Borneo, about 700 miles south of Manila.
