‘Lily’ Blossoms

Natalie Merchant’s “Tigerlily” album continues to sell better in the Southland than in the United States as a whole. The solo debut from the former leader of 10,000 Maniacs has spent several weeks among the Top 10 in The Times’ Southern California album chart, reaching No. 8 for the week ending Sept. 10, but it has never placed higher than No. 13 in the national chart. Merchant, whose album is No. 15 nationally this week, is scheduled to open a U.S. tour Wednesday in New Orleans. West Coast dates have not yet been confirmed.
