Woman Struck by Car Is in Critical Condition
A 44-year-old woman remained in critical condition late Saturday after she was struck by a car while crossing a busy street the previous evening, police said.
Irene J. Walton was crossing Beach Boulevard near 13th Street just before 7 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a car traveling north on Beach Boulevard, police Sgt. Ron Coopman said.
Walton, who was not carrying any identification, was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where family members later identified her, officials said Saturday.
The 17-year-old driver of the car was traveling within the 45-m.p.h. speed limit, police said. No citations were issued, Coopman said.
