Death Sentence Given Rapist Who Killed Girl

CLAYTON, Mo. — A man was sentenced Friday to die by injection for beating a 10-year-old girl to death with a wooden bed slat when she fought off his attempts to rape her.
Thomas Brooks, 28, killed Cassidy Senter in 1993 when she came over to visit a playmate at Brooks’ sister’s house. He hid the body in the basement for eight days, then dumped it in a trash-strewn alley, prosecutors said.
