U.S. Officials Reportedly to Visit to Discuss Film Dispute: A high-level U.S. trade official will go Japan this month for talks on Eastman Kodak Co.’s allegation that Fuji Photo Film Co. has unfairly thwarted the U.S. company’s sales in Japan, Nikkei English News reported, citing unidentified U.S. officials. Japan has agreed to meet with the official from the U.S. Trade Representative’s office, though it will decline to enter into formal negotiations based on U.S. trade law. It will be the first time the two governments have discussed the dispute since July, when the U.S. Trade Representative’s office said it would investigate Kodak’s charge that Japan’s photo film market is tilted against foreign manufacturers, the report said.
