From Times Wire Reports

New Zealanders aboard yachts protested French nuclear testing in the South Pacific by sailing into the port of Brest, near the main base of France’s nuclear missile-armed submarine fleet. Nine protesters, part of a group of about 40 New Zealanders on an anti-nuclear tour of France, sailed near a military area of the port in northwestern France in five yachts bearing anti-test banners, but did not venture to a nearby island where France’s nuclear submarines are based.
