World IN BRIEF : SOMALIA : Warlord Aidid Releases 7 Aid Workers Held Hostage
From Times Wire Reports
Somali warlord Gen. Mohammed Farah Aidid released seven of the 21 foreign aid workers held by his forces for four days. Those freed wouldn’t talk about their ordeal for fear of jeopardizing the others. Christine Castles of Australia, one of the seven women flown to Nairobi after being released, said only that she was happy to be back. Five Americans are among those who have been held since Aidid’s militia took the southwestern city of Baidoa and confiscated most of their communications equipment.
