Amy Bubon of Westminster was the only Orange County player to advance in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur championship in Manchester, Mass. Bubon defeated Lucille Ray of Rock Hill, S.C., 1-up in the first round of match play. Akemi Nakata of Newport Beach and Sue Ewart of Seal Beach were eliminated. Bubon will play Maria Jemsek of Oviedo, Fla., today.
