One Hot Week

Share

It took only a little more than one hot minute for the Red Hot Chili Peppers to reach No. 1 in The Times’ Southern California album chart. “One Hot Minute”--the latest from Flea, Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith and newcomer Dave Navarro--debuted at the top of the local chart, selling 138,000 copies during its first week in stores. Also making an impressive debut was Lenny Kravitz’s “Circus,” which sold 63,000 copies. Among singles, Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy” sold 230,000 copies, making the pop singer the first female artist to debut at No. 1 in the national singles chart. Her “Daydream” album will be released Oct. 3.
