Closing Museum in Burbank Is Unwise

Share

* I am dismayed to learn of plans to close the Burbank branch of the Natural History Museum. The museum is a valuable resource for our area, and many support it who would not otherwise benefit from the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park.

It is unique in many ways: Its presence in Burbank provides residents with recreational and educational opportunities not found elsewhere, it appeals to both adults and children, its size is inviting and its changing exhibit format makes it diverse and fresh.

It seems shortsighted to close the museum for lack of funding without trying to raise money from other sources. A combination of governmental and private fund-raising should be embarked upon to save the museum.
