Leighton & Associates Inc. Announces New Vice President

John L. Patterson has joined Leighton & Associates Inc., an Irvine geotechnical and environmental engineering services company, as vice president and chief operating officer. He was previously vice president of the National Industry division of Groundwater Technology Inc.

* Paul Peffer, president and chief operating officer of Colorbus Inc., has been named chief executive officer of the company. He co-founded the company, an Irvine software and hardware developer, in 1989.

* Kent J. Broussard has been appointed account manager for South Coast Communications Group in Irvine. He will be responsible for implementing client financial and investor relations programs. Broussard joins the company from Investor Relations Corp. in New York, a subsidiary of Starion Capital Group.

* Thomas W. Johnson Jr. has been appointed 1995-96 chair of the American Bar Assn.’s Tort and Insurance Practice Section Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. Johnson is a partner with Irell & Manella in Newport Beach.

* Scott T. Fike has been named president of the Orange County chapter of the American Marketing Assn. He is vice president of FanGram International. Mimi Howard, a marketing representative with Silicon Graphics Inc., is president-elect of the association.

* Joseph C. Bellas has joined the Irvine office of Camp Dresser & McKee Inc., an environmental consulting and engineering firm. He will provide hazardous waste consulting to Southern California clients. Bellas was formerly project director for the Orange County Transit Authority Underground Storage Tank compliance program and underground tank program coordinator at Chevron USA.

* Lawrence S. Boval has been named a senior vice president of Holmes & Narver Inc., an Orange architecture, engineering, construction and management and operations firm. He is head of the company’s architectural/engineering business unit. Boval joined Holmes & Narver in 1990.

* Valerie Consolo-Ryman has been appointed Southern California director of sales for Secure Horizons, a Cypress Medicare-risk plan. Consolo-Ryman, who has been with Secure Horizons eight years, was formerly a senior marketing representative and a regional sales manager for Southern California.

* Donald J. Rackemann has been selected chairman of the board of Golf Start Inc., a Newport Beach-based manufacturer of golf equipment, training aids and sportswear. He is also president and chief executive. Rackemann is a former founder of National Telephone & Communications, a discount telephoning company; publisher of Motorsports Weekly, Drag News, Tennis Illustrated and other sports publications; and operator of Fontana International Raceway.

* Ron Nelson has been named account supervisor for the Irvine advertising and public relations agency of Morrison, Lee & Stevens. He joined the agency last year as senior account executive. Before that, Nelson was director of advertising and public relations for Warmington Homes/Bayport.

* Robert Foote has been appointed director of finance for Pilkington Aerospace Inc., a Garden Grove manufacturer of aerospace windshields, passenger windows and canopies. He joins the company from Pilkington Holdings Inc., where he was director-internal audit.

* George Argyros has been elected to the board of directors of the Newhall Land and Farming Co. in Valencia. Argyros is chairman and chief executive of Arnel & Affiliates, a Costa Mesa investment company, and a general partner and principal financial partner in Westar Capital, a private investment company. He owned the Seattle Mariners baseball team from 1981-89. Newhall Land is a developer of new towns and master-planned communities, including Valencia in California and McDowell Mountain Ranch in Scottsdale, Ariz.
