Share

Micropolis Corp., a Chatsworth maker of disk drives, said it has formed a strategic partnership with BTS Broadcast Television Systems Inc., a division of Philips Electronics.

The companies plan to develop products to store video information for broadcasters. The value of the partnership was not disclosed.

Micropolis makes disk drives to store video information for the hotel and airplane video-on-demand market, and aims through this partnership to expand into broadcasting and video-processing markets, said division marketing director Per Sjofors. BTS, a 67-year-old German-based company, has been providing video storage systems for high-end broadcasters. Digital disk-drive storage is replacing videotapes in the broadcast industry.
