California Amplifier Boosts Quarterly Net to $1 Million

California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo producer of television transmitting equipment, benefited in its latest quarter from demand for reception equipment and a new scrambling system.

In its fiscal second quarter, ended Sept. 2, California Amplifier had net income of $1 million, or 18 cents a share, on sales of $14.5 million. In the comparable period last year, the company had a profit of $550,000, or 10 cents a share, on sales of $11.3 million.

In its fiscal first half, the company had net income of $1.9 million, or 33 cents a share, on sales of $27.2 million. A year earlier, profits were $956,000, or 17 cents a share, on sales of $22.5 million.
