Reader’s Digest, Avon Try Alliance: Pleasantville, N.Y.-based Reader’s Digest Assn. Inc. and Avon Products Inc. said they are testing an arrangement under which each company will help the other market its products in five countries. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under the agreement, Avon representatives began selling Reader’s Digest magazine subscriptions and books to customers in Canada. The program will be launched in France, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand in coming months. New York-based Avon’s direct-mail brochure will be offered to Reader’s Digest customers through product shipments and targeted mailings, the companies said. They will also test joint promotions and incentive programs.
