Northern Michigan University is working to attract a new--and older--generation of students.

The university, under the guidance of President William Vandament, is offering special classes for residents over 50.

About 60 residents have joined the Center for Lifelong Learning. Courses cost $16, or $8 for members. Memberships cost $15 annually. No quizzes, grades or credits are given.
