Still, George Will suggested, “There’s this huge incentive for Republicans to put a Californian on the ticket this time.” Will’s choice: Rep. Christopher Cox of Newport Beach, who happens to be a good friend of Will’s. . . . But commentator Cokie Roberts had her doubts: “Well, first you’d have to introduce him.”

NO, NO, ANNETTE: Today was supposed to have been Disneyland’s big day for baby boomers, with the 40th anniversary reunion of Annette and her two boyfriends from the “Spin and Marty” TV series. But Annette Funicello, Tim (Spin) Considine, David (Marty) Stollery, along with many of the eight other original Mouseketeers, have been put on hold until Friday. . . . Reason: The O.J. Simpson verdict due today, says a spokesman.

LEARN SESSION: Cancer may be highly personal, but Jean Dubravac of Fountain Valley has allowed cable TV’s The Learning Channel to follow her through reconstructive breast surgery for the premiere of its show “The Operation” (tonight at 9). Says Dubravac, 53, diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992: “I figured I could help draw attention to breast cancer, that breast cancer is destructive.” . . . The breast reconstruction, she says, “makes me feel like a normal woman and helps me get by the cancer.”
