Charity Donations Could Go Long Way

Share

* Regarding all the letters, articles and editorials about welfare in general and the closing of county hospitals in particular:

Enough is enough. It’s time to return to private, voluntary charity and end this government-sponsored giveaway. It’s easy to take money, food stamps, rent subsidies and free health care from a huge, nameless, faceless bureaucracy. It’s more difficult to ask for and accept money or other help from individuals whether they be friends, family, churches or neighbors. Anyone who has had to ask to borrow money from their parents or ask to stay with a friend in time of need knows this is true.

I am tired of having my hard-earned money taken from me at the point of a gun in order to support someone else, especially drug addicts and alcoholics. I’d rather choose to which “charity” my money goes.
