Levi Strauss’ Haas Family to Be Honored: The family will be named the winner of a lifetime achievement award from the Business Enterprise Trust, an organization founded by sitcom meister Norman Lear to honor courage and social vision in business. Four generations of Haases have led the venerable San Francisco-based Levi Strauss & Co. jeans company, helping to pioneer work force diversity and other ideas. Awards will also go to E. Rachel Hubka, founder of a school bus business in inner-city Chicago; Hal Rosenbluth, chief executive of Rosenbluth International, which emphasizes employee satisfaction as a key contributor to growth; Vermont National Bank in Brattleboro, Vt., for creating a fund to allow customers to earmark deposits for loans to enterprises that would help the community, and Judy Wicks, founder of Philadelphia’s White Dog Cafe, for using her restaurant to build a sense of community among the city’s ethnically diverse components.
