West Valley : Chaplain Discusses Gangs and Business

A chaplain who has worked for 25 years with gangs will discuss Thursday how gang violence is hurting West Valley businesses and what can be done about it.

Lawrence Hernandez, who has a master’s degree in theology from the Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, is the founder of CityWorks, an organization that offers counseling to gang members and their families.

Hernandez will discuss what attracts gang members to certain business districts and offer tips on keeping them away.

The talk, sponsored by the Valley Jewish Business Leaders Assn., will take place during the group’s 7:30 breakfast meeting at the Warner Center Marriott, 21850 Oxnard St. in Woodland Hills. Admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
