Lower Growth Projected for French Economy: The country’s economy will grow next year by 2.4% at best, said the economic research institute Rexecode. That’s below the government’s growth forecast of 2.8%. Growth could be even lower if the government fails to gain financial markets’ confidence by acting tough on public deficits, said Michel Didier, Rexecode’s director general. He urged the government to take an initiative, such as cutting public spending between $6 billion and $12 billion, or 0.5% and 1% of gross domestic product, to encourage investment.
