Next Saturday’s Moorpark Senior Expo will offer everything from line-dancing instruction to financial advice, and organizers are hoping to attract more than 200 people.
The daylong event at Moorpark City Hall will include 10 sessions on everything from taking care of one’s heart to armchair aerobics for seniors, said Carol Ghens, director of the center.
The keynote speaker for the event is Connie Goldman, former National Public Radio reporter and All Things Considered host.
For the past six years, Goldman has been reporting on aging in America, and will share some of her wit and wisdom with the expo participants starting at 11 a.m. The expo is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. and go until 4:45 p.m.
In addition to the presentations, the expo will have exhibits from 26 social agencies including Grey Law, the Braille Institute, Senior Fitness of America, the National Heart Assn. and several county agencies, Ghens said.
“There’s going to be something there for everybody,” she added.
Those interested in participating should contact the senior center as soon as possible to register, Ghens said. Cost is $3 for the event, which will include lunch and appetizers.
