SEAL BEACH : 2 Hotel Robberies Bear Striking Resemblance

If it works once, try again.

That’s what an armed robber may have been thinking when he held up employees at the Radisson Inn on Sunday about 10:40 p.m., cleaning them out of cash before sticking them in the elevator and sending them on a ride to the third floor.

A man matching his description did the same thing about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, using a similar-looking handgun and sending two different employees on a ride in the elevator to the hotel’s third floor, said Police Detective Darrell Hardin.

No injuries were reported in either holdup.

In both cases, the robber was described as white, about 35 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing about 190 pounds. On Saturday night, the robber wore a white Windbreaker and a blue baseball cap. On Sunday, the robber sported a hospital surgical gown, Hardin said.

Police aren’t certain the robber was the same in both cases, but the crimes bore a striking resemblance.

“It’s similar,” said Hardin. “But we can’t be sure until we do a photo lineup.”

On both nights, the robber took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register at the hotel, at 600 Marina Drive, Hardin said.

He was seen fleeing Sunday in a white compact car, possibly an early to mid-1980s Toyota Tercel.

Anyone with information about the robberies is encouraged to call the Seal Beach Police Department at (310) 431-2541.
