Peer Protocols Inc.: The Newport Beach developer of computer test equipment said that it has been purchased by Xyratex, a United Kingdom-based company that makes test equipment for the computer storage industry. Both companies are privately held, and terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ken Wilkie, chief executive of Xyratex, said that Peer Protocols offers “a complete U.S. service and support infrastructure, which complements Xyratex’s development, manufacturing and marketing capabilities.” Peer Protocols, founded in 1986, employs 17 people. Xyratex employs more than 2,000 people worldwide, the company said.
