SAN CLEMENTE : Police Help Lower Child Car-Seat Costs
Families who cannot afford to buy child safety seats for their cars can get help through the San Clemente Police Services Safety Program.
The law enforcement agency is getting a $10,000 donation from Safeco Corp., an insurance company, to help low-income families buy child safety seats. The agency has coordinated with the local Kmart retail store to offer the seats at a cost reduction of almost 50%.
The donation will also help the agency to acquire a portable alcohol detection device and to sponsor bicycle safety rodeos at schools for children.
