Westside : YOUNG SHAKESPEARE

Share

To be or not to be? That is the question that youths from low-income families in Venice, Mar Vista and Westchester may be asking if they are selected to participate in a six-week Shakespeare employment opportunity.

Up to 20 youngsters--ages 16 to 21--can earn $200 a week staging and performing a Shakespearean play. The youths must be on break from classes or be finished with school, officials said.

The program, “Will Power to Youth,” is affiliated with the performance group Shakespeare Festival L.A. and supported by the National Conference of Christians and Jews and the Community Development Department of Los Angeles.
