Tabloid Details in Story on Car Crash
* Regarding the article in The Times on Oct. 11 (“Councilman’s Daughter Killed in Car Crash”) reporting the tragic death of Holleigh Bernson, Councilman Hal Bernson’s daughter:
As a parent, my heart goes out to Bernson and his family for their terrible loss. While reading the article, I had to keep reminding myself that I was not reading some supermarket tabloid.
I would like to know why your writers felt it necessary to describe Ms. Bernson as quirky and individualistic. Who cares what color her hair was, or what part of her body was pierced and what type of clothing she wore? Was this article designed to console the family? I think not!
