Gallegly’s Stand Will Hurt in Future

Share

* Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) co-sponsored two bills that destroy the environment, hence hurting our children and future generations.

Gallegly co-sponsored H.R. 1745 to open up 4 million acres of Utah wilderness for mining, oil/gas drilling and deforestation. That bill also undermines the Wilderness Act of 1964, so that the destruction of wilderness will not be limited to Utah but extended to the entire nation.

Furthermore, Smoky Hollow coal mine run by a Dutch multinational will mine Kaiparowits Plateau to ship coal to Asia. Gallegly not only hurts our children and future generations by being against environmental protection, but he favors selling our children’s land ownership to foreigners too.

Gallegly also co-sponsored H.R. 2275 to shut down the Endangered Species Act. Without this protection, rare wildlife can be hunted and trapped, species recovery abandoned and habitats destroyed. That bill would also allow landowners to demand compensation from the government for requirements imposed on them, whether or not the Constitution entitles them to such compensation.

Guess who will pay for this. Our children and their children. Voters should demand Gallegly withdraw his co-sponsorships on those two bills.
