Send Money: Faced with continuing U.S. resentment over the huge bilateral trade deficit, the Japanese government says it is trying to attract American investment. Southern California firms anxious to learn more might want to visit a free symposium being put on by Japan’s overseas trade arm Tuesday. Japanese government officials will offer information on a wide range of resources, including subsidies and rebates offered by regional development corporations in Japan. The session is especially aimed at U.S. firms interested in opening a subsidiary office, establishing manufacturing facilities or seeking information on investment opportunities in Japan. Also on hand will be executives from California firms offering their “real world” experiences in breaking into the Japanese market. The Japan External Trade Organization is organizing the seminar, which is co-sponsored by a number of Southern California trade groups and U.S. and Japanese government agencies. The seminar runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce office at 725 S. Figueroa St., Suite 1890, Los Angeles. For reservations, call (213) 624-8855.
