Driver Killed in Head-On Collision
A head-on collision in Canoga Park involving a man who lost control of his car left him injured and killed the driver of the other car, Los Angeles police said Sunday.
Scott Shapiro, 20, was driving northbound on Topanga Canyon Boulevard near Parthenia Street at about 10:55 p.m. Saturday when he lost control of his car and it jumped the center divider, said Officer George Maycott of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
Before Shapiro could regain control, his car smashed head-on into a car heading southbound, killing its driver. He was identified as Steven Martinez, 41, of Woodland Hills.
Shapiro sustained only minor injuries in the crash. Police were still investigating the incident, but said no charges had been filed against Shapiro.
