Schools : Education news : LAGUNA BEACH : Schools Considering Fund Ballot Measure
With buildings needing repair and enrollment growing, the Laguna Beach Unified School District is considering a ballot measure to ask voters to help pay for renovations and new classrooms.
Enrollment has risen to 2,450 this year from 2,060 in June, 1991, Supt. Paul M. Possemato said. The district also needs more “specialized classrooms” that can be used for counseling students or as workrooms for teachers, he said.
“When you put together growth, maintenance and special types of facilities, you really do have a district that is wanting,” Possemato said. The school board is taking preliminary steps that could put a finance measure on the ballot as early as June, he said.
