Lifelong Ventura County resident Wonda Lee Manning died at Community Memorial Hospital after a long fight with cancer. She was 63.

Born Oct. 7, 1932, in Ojai, she was always proud of being a native Californian. She attended Nordoff High School and Ventura College before starting a career as a seamstress, said Joy Davison, her sister-in-law.

“She could sew anything,” Davison said.

Mrs. Manning was gregarious and outgoing and loved to be around people, Davison said, and loved to attend classic car shows with her brother, John, who owned a 1944 Ford panel truck.

“She just loved going off on those adventures,” Davison said.

She is survived by her two sons, Donnie and Douglas Manning of Ventura; two daughters, Joyce Rodriguez of Weldon and Debra Davis of Ventura; her mother, Mabel Soares of Ventura; brother and sister in-law John and Joy Davison, and 10 grandchildren.

There will be a private family service and interment will be at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wonda Manning’s name to her family, in care of Mabel Soares, 273 E. Lewis St., Ventura, Calif., 93001.
