Microsoft Pegs Internet as Top Priority: Building software for the Internet has become one of the Redmond, Wash.-based computer company’s top priorities, Chairman and Chief Executive Bill Gates said at an Internet conference in Boston. Microsoft Corp. plans to introduce products designed for the so-called “Intranet,” in which companies use local networks to do business and exchange information. One product called Exchange, scheduled for release early next year, will let people send electronic mail and share files.
