IBM Sees Telecommunication Networks as Key to Future: International Business Machines Corp. said telecommunications networks are of strategic importance for the information industry, and the company is looking for partners in Europe. Lucio Stanca, chairman of IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa, said networks will become increasingly important and take away the need to store data and software programs in personal computers. “The industry is heading to a new phase, which is network-centered and not PC-centered,” he said. Stanca said IBM’s strategy is to obtain a strong position in the emerging network world.
