Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc.: The Garden Grove maker of high-performance computer memory products said it has received a $400,000 order to supply memory modules to Teledyne Inc., the Los Angeles defense contractor.

The memory device, which will be used in a Teledyne missile system, is “about the size of a nickel” and is made with a rugged ceramic material that can withstand a fall from an airplane, said William Stowell, chief financial officer of Dense-Pac.

Although the company has reduced its dependence on defense and aerospace customers in recent years, the order from Teledyne “shows that the military side is still a viable part of our company,” Stowell said. Dense-Pac reported a profit of $723,000 on sales of $8.7 million for the six months that ended Aug. 30.
