IRVINE : Slaying Victim’s Rites Wednesday

Share

Funeral services for Linda Young Park, the 18-year-old college student slain in her Irvine home last week, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier.

Prayer services are scheduled for 7 p.m. today, also at Rose Hills Mortuary, 3888 S. Workman Mill Road.

Irvine police said Monday that they had no leads in the case, although they suspect an acquaintance or acquaintances played a part in an apparent home-invasion robbery that turned deadly last week.

On Thursday, Park’s father, Sun Hwa Park, found his daughter’s body hogtied face down on the living room floor when he returned home from work about 8 p.m. Detectives said $500 in cash and an undisclosed amount of jewelry were missing.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry. The home is tucked away on a side street in the Deerfield neighborhood, away from major thoroughfares.

A grief counselor will be available today to students in Park’s introductory political science course at Irvine Valley College, according to college spokesman George McCrory. Park was also enrolled in a math class that met in a large lecture hall, McCrory said.
