Los Angeles police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a murder suspect wanted in connection with the slaying of a man last week outside of a Sunland market.

The suspect, Luis Martinez, 22, of Tujunga, was taken into custody Monday as he drove down an unidentified street that police had staked out in the northeast San Fernando Valley, LAPD Detective Frank Bishop said.

Martinez was wanted for the killing of Mark Daniel Lopez, 19, of Tujunga, who was gunned down Nov. 7 on the corner of Summit Rose Street and Mt. Gleason Avenue, Bishop said. Police, who believe Martinez is the shooter, are continuing to search for additional suspects.

Martinez and Lopez allegedly were members of rival gangs and police believe the killing was gang motivated.
