STANTON : Council OKs Bingo Games at Chamber of Commerce

Bingo games may begin before the end of the year at the Stanton Chamber of Commerce, which received approval for them Tuesday from the City Council.

Proceeds will go to the chamber’s business development efforts, said Joan Thomas, executive director of the chamber. Having a regular source of funds, she said, will free chamber members to spend time working with community businesses.

Although the council agreed to add the chamber to the list of groups that may hold bingo games, the proposal also must have the state’s approval. Thomas said the chamber expects to get state approval soon and that the games may begin before year’s end.
