Banks in Oak Park and Simi Valley Robbed

Two Ventura County banks were struck by different robbers Tuesday afternoon, and the bandits are still at large.

During the first robbery, the county’s 40th this year, a white male in his mid-20s walked into the Wells Fargo Bank branch on Lindero Canyon Road in Oak Park about 3:55 p.m. FBI officials said he jumped the counter and took money from three bank tellers. It is unknown whether he had a weapon. He then jumped back over the counter and fled. He was wearing a partial disguise.

The second robbery occurred an hour later at a First Interstate branch on Cochran Street in Simi Valley. FBI officials said a heavily disguised white male walked into the bank and notified a teller verbally and with a note that the bank was being robbed. He did not claim to have a weapon and no weapon was seen.

He is described as about 35 years old; 5 feet, 7 inches tall; weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a salt-and-pepper wig, English-style hat with a short brim, a mustache that may be fake, a white long-sleeved shirt and polyester pants. He also appeared to be heavily padded to make him look much larger than he was. The robber was last seen running from the bank, pulling off clothing, which he carried with him.

FBI officials said the robberies do not seem to be related because the robbers looked different and used different techniques.
