ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : Water From on High

Share

One of Santa Ana’s landmarks is the water tower off the Santa Ana Freeway near 14th Street. Built in 1928 by Llewellyn Iron Works, it cost $73,000 and can hold nearly a million gallons. Because the water supply is elevated, it can be distributed without pumps.

The tower’s crown features the city’s distinctive “Education First” logo.
