Good Tern--Ever wondered what the difference is between a gull and a tern? South Coast Audubon will answer this, and other avian questions, when the chapter hosts a beginning birders field trip to Crystal Cove State Park on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Crystal Cove is known for its broad sandy beaches and terraces overlooking the ocean.

Observed shorebirds will include willetts, pipers and a variety of gulls and terns. Experienced birders will be on hand to help with identification. Rare birds that may be spotted include the California gnatcatcher and western meadowlarks.

Bring binoculars, a scope (if you have one), bird book and drinking water.
